![]() The storyline is captivating for any age. With the Green Ember series, I found the exact opposite. Much of the newer children’s and young adult fiction I’ve previewed has struck me as shallow, featuring protagonists short on character, and/or having storylines that don’t hold up well to the lens of how the world actually works. Smith’s Green Ember books by accident and decided it would be worth looking into. ![]() It was that good.So, in my opinion, the scary parts are completely negated because of the whole being just so so very good.You will be doing yourself and your family a disservice if you don’t read/listen to these books.Īs a new dad, I’ve been on the lookout for book series to someday share with my kids. It teaches perseverance and having a good outlook on life, no matter what.It lead to some really amazing conversations with my 5 and 6 year old.Here, they are building a castle as they were listening to the final battle.We literally dropped everything (we homeschool) and finished the last book in two days. My boys screamed and giggled and jumped up and down and ran all over the house when their favorite characters overcame.against all odds. As some reviewers have said, there are some intense parts in the last two novels.but I love how it shows the good prevail.And the plot twists!
